Where Every Painting Begins

Before a painting takes shape, it often begins as a sketch. Sometimes, it stays in this form. Sometimes, it evolves.

Drawing allows me to slow down and truly observe. I enjoy studying the quiet relationships between light and shadow, movement and stillness, structure and growth. These works are less about finding answers than they are about asking better questions.

Whether created as studies for future paintings or as finished works in their own right, each sketch captures a moment of curiosity, a moment of exploration. They reveal the first conversations between observation and imagination, offering a glimpse into the process that eventually unfolds across canvas, wood, and other surfaces.

Drawing reminds me that every finished work begins with simply learning how to see.
